Meet Nancy Blizzard, a Utility Worker here at Clovernook Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired. She is responsible for quality assurance, which involves making sure that magazine pages are in numerical order and there are no duplicates. Nancy first started working at Clovernook Center in 1975 and takes pride in her work.
“I like putting things together so that people can use them,” said Nancy.
Nancy had retinal damage to her eyes at birth which caused her blindness. As a young adult, she moved from Columbus to Cincinnati where she found herself a job at Clovernook Center in the binder. Today, Nancy cherishes all of the memories and relationships she has made through her time at Clovernook Center and while living at the former Trader Home.
“I like all of the nice people that I have met and the friends that I’ve made here,” said Nancy.
In her spare time, Nancy enjoys reading, listening to music, making pottery, cooking, playing bingo, riding horses, going out to eat, attending church retreats and spending time with her nephew, David.
When you bring up the topic of sports with Nancy, you discover her passion for Ohio State football. She is an avid listener of Buckeyes football games on the radio and has a vast knowledge about their players and coaches. One of Nancy’s dreams was to attend a football game at Ohio Stadium. In 2018, that dream came true when she had the chance to cheer on her Buckeyes as they defeated Tulane University.
Nancy’s work ethic and positive attitude is tremendous. She doesn’t let her blindness prevent her from doing anything in her life and encourages others who have blindness to do the same.
“You don’t know if you can do something until you try,” said Nancy.
