Partnering to Improve Accessibility
Clovernook’s Arts & Accessibility team partners with arts organizations all across the U.S. and internationally to increase accessibility for BVI visitors.
The Reality
Cultural institutions are becoming increasingly aware of the need for accessibility as a core consideration of their programs and exhibits. Unfortunately, those contracted to produce accessible braille and tactile graphics often lack the expertise needed to create an optimal product. Braille is often translated incorrectly, audio tracks can be confusing for the non-visual listener, and tactile graphics are not given the care and consideration that are required for them to be effective.
The Solution
In response, Clovernook is partnering with arts and culture organizations both regionally and nationwide to improve accessibility. From braille materials to tactile graphics to audio descriptions, Clovernook is uniquely positioned, with its wealth of experience and high-end equipment, to help ensure that cultural institutions are provided with accessible materials that have utility in practice, and not just in theory.
Accessibility is Our Specialty
The Arts & Accessibility team at Clovernook is dedicated to increasing accessibility specifically in cultural spaces and art-focused venues like museums, theaters, and concerts. People with visual impairments deserve access to experience these arts without barriers. Accessibility audits of these venues allow our team to provide feedback on current amenities and services and identify enhancements that would be useful to a person with visual impairments. And you can trust us with your accessibility. All Clovernook audits are conducted by a team of accessibility experts, which always includes blind and visually impaired staff.
How Clovernook Can Benefit You
Pictured on the right you’ll find Clovernook’s Sr. Additive Design Engineer & Makerspace Manager, Quentin Roa, using a 3D scanner to record the exact dimensions and texture of a vase from the Cincinnati Art Museum’s collection to produce a 3D model replica of the artifact. This product will allow BVI individuals who visit the museum to experience and understand the artifact in ways unavailable to them previously. This is just an example of one of the many things Clovernook can do for you, and the great part is, we are able to provide many of these services at completely no cost to you, due to grants that fund our Arts & Accessibility initiative. Take this opportunity to experiment with accessibility risk-free!
