OHIO LIBRARY FOR THE BLIND AND PHYSICALLY DISABLED HOSTS FAMILY FUN & LEARNING DAY AT CLOVERNOOK Program features National Library Service Award-winning narrator, Michael Kramer.

June 26, 2013 – Cincinnati, OH – Family Fun & Learning Day hosted by Cleveland Public Library’s Ohio Library for the Blind & Physically Disabled (OLBPD) will take place on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Clovernook Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired in North College Hill. All OLBPD patrons, their families and friends are invited to join in a day of food, fun, and special programs of interest to OLBPD patrons. OLBPD serves all Ohio patrons of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Disabled including those living in the greater Cincinnati area. “We believe in providing the blind and physically disabled patrons in our community with equal opportunities to enjoy our assets and programming,” said Felton Thomas, Executive Director of Cleveland Public Library. “Our Family Fun & Learning Day is another way to provide value for our OLBPD patrons and their families while celebrating the achievements of the library itself.” Some highlights of the day include: • Featured speaker Michael Kramer, National Library Service award-winning narrator. • Tours of Clovernook Center’s campus and Braille Print House. • Larry Klug, Technology Specialist at Clovernook Center, will discuss adaptive technology, downloading books, and using the NLS BARD service. • State Librarian of Ohio Beverly Cain will visit to share updates from State Library of Ohio. • Head of the Talking Book Program at State Library, Tracy Grimm, will share information about digital talking book players and equipment. • Vice President of Multistate Center East, (MSCE) Jackie Conner, will present an overview of services provided and Chris Mundy, MSCE, will discuss quality standards for volunteer-produced audio books. • Exhibitions and demonstrations of the latest adaptive technology available for people who are blind or have low vision. • Pizza provided by Dewey’s Pizza and refreshments available during lunch for a freewill donation (or patrons are welcome to bring their own lunch). • ACCESS and Metro service are available at Clovernook Center’s 7000 Hamilton Avenue location. Convenient parking for vehicles with handicapped designation has been reserved for the event.
